I just want to say that when the iPhone 4 pics first leaked, there was a huge howl about how ugly it was.

Apple has got some MAJOR work to do. I know plenty of people who will only buy PCs (AND SPECIFICALLY NOT BUY MACS, OR EVEN, APPLE PRODUCTS) because they are unaware of what the LATEST Macs can do. The pre-OSX era hurt Apple's reputation. People still believe Macs are incompatible with everything; Internet sites, Word, etc. Some people thinks Macs crash MORE than PCs. People associate Macs with being slow and using out-of-date tech (I don't recall Intel in the "Get A Mac" ads, even though it sure would help considering that everyone and there dog trusts Intel because Intel Inside has been plastered on every computer they've seen). And of course, people hate the ONE-BUTTON MOUSE (especially if they associate Apple mice with the hockey puck mouse), because Apple has not advertised Mighty Mouse, universal USB mouse compatibility, contextual menu support, etc. Seems minor, but quite a number of people are held back by one or more of these things. Plus, as far as the mouse goes, it should be two-click enabled by default! Macs are far more desirable, powerful, capable, and compatible than they have ever been before (and they weren't always these things before). Apple needs to show it. In addition, they definitely need a headless tower, and more professional looking systems. The BlackBook and Pro systems are wonderful: sleek, stylish, and professional, but try bringing a white MacBook or iMac, Apple's only offerings at those price points) into a corporate office meeting... Finally they need more advertising to not only the people mentioned above, but to people who don't use the computer that much and think buying a computer is the same all around.
P.S. I think Boot Camp should be emphasized much more, and we all know once someone is on board Mac OS X does the rest o' the work.

Comparing him to the President shows just how twisted our population's understanding of Al-Qaeda's current make up has become. He was a leader a decade ago.
The current iteration of "Al-Qaeda" has only the idea driving it in common with the hierarchical Al-Qaeda of a decade ago.
People's perception of reality matters more in these situations than actual reality. The fact that the average guy in the street probably still thinks/thought of him as the head of al-Qaeda is the important part.

When you think about it, it's kind of sad. He's not only ruining himself, he's also affecting the people he works for and with costing them tons of money, which he'll probably spend to get wasted some more, just because he's Charlie Sheen.
Gloria Steinem said it so nicely; if he had an air force, he'd be Gaddafi.

well done.
it is macrumors, after all.I enjoy idle speculation about this stuff as much as the next guy but I still think the old 'everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts' thing should probably be adhered to (and I hope that doesn't come across as snarky to the original poster, and apologies to him/her for [citation needed]ing if it turns out I was wrong).
Widgets and personalization - not needed. Only nerd losers stare at their OS, being unable to find any better way to spend their pathetic empty life with no purpose.Waiting for you to change the tone when Apple comes out with widgets and custom personalization. You sound like I am against it.Can we take that as an admission that you're a nerd loser who is unable to find any better way to spend his pathetic empty life with no purpose? :D
If you are, don't worry, we all post here too...
I couldn't quite tell if your post was serious given how you followed up on it, but I think having better notifications and making better use of the home screen might be quite high priorities from a user-experience point of view. Wouldn't it be helpful to see a Gmail-style snippet of your new emails visible when you unlock your phone? Or possibly a small calendar display so you can see at a glance that there's a meeting you're booked into later? I guess it might be difficult to integrate these things without dramatically reducing the space visible for apps but I can imagine a lot of people having a use for this kind of functionality and Apple is denying people the choice at the moment.
I still don't quite understand why people are so averse to the idea of a visible file system, as though this means you're going to have to poke around in a directory structure to find a note in Notes, or a song in the iPod or somesuch. It's adding functionality for those who want to use it, not complicating things for people who don't want to use that side of things. I'm sure Apple has the engineering talent to do it.

Hopefully, the websites that provide their videos through a legacy Flash wrapper will soon be providing their users with a choice.
I am elated that iOS Safari has no Flash support. I do not want the CPU suck, the identity suck, the unpredictable behavior, and the exposure to Adobe bugs. If you want those things, feel free to get an Android device.
It would be better if Apple provided its users with a choice of whether they want to enable a flash plugin or not in their devices instead of screwing us all over by making so many web sites unusable (although I'm sure the author of Skyfire is thrilled about that choice since it's making him rich beyond his wildest dreams all because Apple is run by an egomaniac).

I already got two potential Christmas presents early:

(lovin' it something fierce!)
and

Would love to have this:

or this:

But since my budget nowadays says "oh hells to the naw", I'll probably have to settle for this:

It's the 3-CD box set of Howard Jones's first two albums, being released soon on his Dtox label. Warner/Elektra gave Howard and his keyboard tech Robbie Bronnimann access to the original master tapes, and they've digitally remastered the albums with reportedly much better sound quality than the original CD issues. The third bonus disc, named after his rare "Risk" singles, contains live tracks from early performances.

I am a little confused.
It says when you move toward the screen the appropriate control appears. So say you move toward the scroll wheel and it appears. Then do you scroll by making a scrolling motion in the air but close to the screen? Or do you scroll by rubbing your finger along the image of the scroll wheel?
One other thought.....when Apple introduced the ROKR, they said it's iTunes on your phone. That sounded a bit odd to me. Apple has never referred to the software on the iPod as iTunes.
But maybe with this increased interactivity Apple will put something on this larger screen that resembles the iTunes screen (Library, Playlists, Video Lists), possibly having iTunes on your iPod? Just an idea.

In Boston, mostly everyone I know with an iPhone, including myself, uses a case. It's more surprising when you see someone NOT using a case.
I use a case so it doesn't get as damaged in my pocket, and in the event you drop the device, there may be some saving grace that it doesn't shatter the glass.
3 iPhones in brookline running naked.
Although we have a few bumpers and a variety of cases laying around

Couldn't that be just because Windows security (or lack thereof) has already been thoroughly examined by the industry at large and therefore wasn't as high a priority?
Right, they were looking for a particular set of problems, specifically kernel bugs, which OSX and Linux have their fair share. Interestingly enough some of the wireless bugs affected more than one OS.
These are vulnerabilities, which obviously need to be addressed, but just because they found more kernel bugs in OSX, Linux, and BSD, doesn't mean Windows is suddenly 'secure.'

Give me some wise decision guys
I am badly in need for a new iDevice. My last device was the iPod Touch 1st Generation. I am planning to get both the iPhone and iPad, but will only get one now and wait for the other one in the next update.
So which is better now?
Get iPhone 4 White, and wait for iPad 3
or
Get iPad 2, and wait for iPhone 5?
I am leaning towards the first option because the iPhone 4 feels like a revolution while the iPad 2 feels like a small upgrade and I wish it has a retina screen. But on the other hand, the iPhone 4 feels old now and iPad 2 just released.
get ipad 2 and wait for iphone 5
unless something is wrong with the phone you have now, then i would get the iphone 4 . otherwise i would just wait

It's not really outdated in the sense that it is still the best and latest iPhone out there. But I know what you are getting at.
Well I think I would be an unwise consumer to pay full upgrade price for old tech. If there is no iPhone in June, I might give Apple a little time to tell all of us whose contracts are up what their plan is, but I doubt I'm going to be willing to hold onto an old phone long enough to see what Apple has in store. At that point I'll give serious consideration to another platform, but I'll resist it as much as possible because I do enjoy Apple hardware. I will not, however, tolerate horrible update cycles and pay full price for them. If that's going to be Apple's game, I won't be playing.

The show hasn't been officially cancelled. Before today, they shut down production for the last 8 episodes for this season. Today, they fired Sheen and said they are unsure if the show will go on. Knowing Hollywood, they'll go on with a replacement. Oddly, Sheen replaced Michael J. Fox on his show when Fox quit and it went on for another 2 or 3 seasons. They can hire Ted McGinley.
