It was not clear how this amendment affects, so I did some reading myself and found how it quietly does it. And adds a little incentive i.e. the total number may not exceed 650,000. In other words, alloting 200,000 for dependants(650,000 total - 450,000 primary)
I get a feeling that this might pass if it is presented on the floor smartly to kindle some number/cost sentiment.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of this act the language in Title V Sec. 501 under the heading ``
(2) VISAS FOR SPOUSES AND CHILDREN'' is null and void and the following shall be applicable
in lien thereof.
``(2) VISAS FOR SPOUSES AND CHILDREN.--
``(A) IN GENERAL.--Except as provided in subparagraph (B), immigrant visas issued on or after
October 1, 2004, to spouses and children of employment-based immigrants shall not be counted against
the numerical limitation set forth in paragraph (1).
``(B) NUMERICAL LIMITATION.--The total number of visas issued under paragraph (1)(A) and
paragraph (2), excluding such visas issued to aliens pursuant to section 245B or section 245C of the
Immigration and Nationality Act, may not exceed 650,000 during any fiscal year.

If you will work for a Canadian Company within US, then you need a US work visa (H-1B for example). However, in this process you will not satisfy the residency requirements for your Canadian PR. Please note that you need to live in Canada for at least 2 out of 5 year period to maintain the PR.

Hi everyone,
I have a related question. I am a canadian citizen now and am still maintaining an H1b. My H1b stamp had expired in 2007 though.
I had applied for AP in january but its still pending at NSC.
Now I have to go to India for my brother's marriage.
My question to you all is-Since I am still on H1B (and If am not wrong, canadian citizens do not require H1B stamps)-- will it be ok if I travel without an AP.

I cracked up reading the post. I never really understood why they call us losers and locusts.
Google translation maybe funny but i think the meaning of the post on Chinese forum is serious. The other day someone posted that Chinese are calling Charles Oppenheim at DOS, asking him to not advance the dates of Indians, and rather only advance the dates of Chinese, which apparently backfired.
I have many good friends from China and they are all very nice. But as a group why do we always see Chinese digging hole everywhere?

Last time there was a recession (2001/2002), INS denied a lot of employment based immigrant petitions because they asked companies why they could not hire American programmers who were laid off. This happened people I personally know from reputed companies such as Sun Microsystems. I don't mean to sound negative, but do you think this will happen again? After being in the queue for so many years, the possibility is real.

Im in the same boat as you. I just bought a D70 and it came with almost the same exact len kit. Ive had lots of fun/luck witht he 70-300mm at my kids softball games. I got some great shots of the kids at the plate , running, fielding etc...
Back to your original question....I just bought a magazine this week by ShutterBug - Digital Photography How-To Guide. One of the articles is about choosing the next lens for your digital SLR. Well worth the price for us rookies :p
I need some serious help with my D50 equipment. I have no experience at all with SLR cameras, and have recently bought a bundle consisting of a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S Dxlens. Now I am interested in buying another lens (The Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Zoom Lens) in hope that these two lenses would suit my needs in amateur photography. I intend to photo landscapes, portraits and some ''macro'' (flowers and some insects). So, I would like to know if these lenses are an acceptable choice, having in mind that I can't afford to buy some expensive lenses, as my average monthly salary almost amounts to the price of these cheap ones. Thanks.
