I disagree. I think that we will see an another attempt at CIR bill. Dems will want to capitalize on their surge among the hispanic bloc; see the comments by Nancy Palosi [sp?]. An attempt will be made to cast it as an aid for economy: to bring people out of shadows so that they can buy houses etc.
But then this is just my opinion which, like yours, is just an opinion. Heck even my 5 year old these days does not seem to hold my opinion in any regard :)

Hey - can you please tell me where you applied for the 4 yr DL. I have always got my DL extended only till I-94 expiry or of late - till my EAD expiry. I renew my DL in Columbus. Can you please share your experience as to where you got your DL renewed?
I think PA is very liberal in issuing the Dr. Lic. Last year (2008) I cam back from India using AP and I received my Dr. Lic renewed upto 2012. I just applied online printed the form, went Norristown (near King Of Prussia), showed him old unexpired Dr Lic, He took my picture and issued me Dr Lic..
This is why I dont want to move in other state. If I had to then I will keep my permanent address in PA, twice in a month will come back here.

It depends on the Minimum Requirement, in your case it seems like it was BS+3, which is less than MS or BS+5 , therefore it will be EB3.
If the job description says, min education is Bachelor's, but Master's is preferred, it is still EB3.
If i recall correctly, the "skilled worker" category is EB3, you can check this on the USCIS website under the Laws & Regulations link.

if u feel company is in bad shape, then file perm through another employer..stay with this company in the meantime till ur h1 expires and file an appeal for the 140..if appeal fails..u'll have an approved labor by then with the other employer and u can jump to his company..

I apologize from the beginning if I?m asking some stupid questions but I?m really confused after I read all those I-140 issues posted on this forum.
I just received today my LC after a long wait in backlog from 04/2001.
1. My lawyer is asking me for $1000.00 premium processing fee and some documents from my employer for this PP for I-140. Is it still available?
2. How long will be until this I-140 gets approved? Anyone who did this lately?
3. I?m filling I-140 together with I-485. It matters, time PP wise?
4. Is there another?next step? towards the GC or just wait for those to be approved?
5. I?m so ?squeezed? on my wallet, how much money will be still needed until the GC is in my hand?
I paid so far more then 35G. - The previous ?steps? in processing fees and lawyer?s fees.
I would really appreciate some honest answers; I?m seriously thinking to go back to my country if the GC will be too far away.
Thank you guys for your attention and thanks IV for the good work done so far.

No...if your current EAD expires and the new one hasn't arrived, you must stop working. it does not matter if you've applied for renewal and its pending. EAD does not work like H1B extension, where a 240 day period of automatic eligibility to continue working is available upon filing extension.

I have received my GC on January 28th. My company filled the following with USCIS:
I140 was filled on Nov. 21 2007 and Approved on Jan 24th 2008
I485 was filled on Nov. 21 2007 and Approved on Jan 20th 2008
Now... some people say to me to wait 180 days to quit my current job (which is paying me half of what I should be earning as a GC holder), some people say it is okay to leave at anytime....
So, I don't know what to do, I pretend to become a citzen in 5 years also, and not sure if this will count bad towards that.
I have some reasons to leave: sallary is low (they will not negociate more), wife is pregnant and I am getting a mortgage.
Please advice.

frostrated, this exactly contradicts your take on this issue. I understand your family has gone to india without ap in hand and have come back with AP (approval after leaving US). My question is how safe it is to do this.
Is it safe? Absolutely not. If your AP is denied, then there is no way of coming back. You would have travelled without a travel document to return with, and there is no way of applying for one from outside the country. In effect, you would have abandoned your application.
In our case, we were pretty sure that we would be issued the travel doc, and we also had a backup plan, where we could still get a visa to return. The travel doc was mainly used to remove the uncertainity of a visa issuance.
If you have no option for getting a visa, then I would not travel without the travel doc.

you all re jumping to conclusions based on opinions, have you forgoteen what OBAMA had been saying about immigration?
1. Address legal immigration first
2. Illegals will have to stand behind the ones who came in this country legally.
Do you really think, that they will totoaly ignore legal immigrants and work on illegal. Obama has been talking about this process since his days of presidentail campaign,
We all need to have faith and work towards making IV and its goal attainable.

the rule states that you have to be present in the country when you apply for AP. It does not say anything on where you need to be when it is approved. There are many cases where the applicant left the US to have the document mailed or taken along with someone to the person out of the US. The applicants on return were not asked anything. It was business as usual.
